The exhibition Our Choices: An Invitation to Take a Look at Four Generations of Lithuanian Politicians welcomes the visitor to take a closer look at the people who, at different periods, created our country and got it established on the worldwide stage. As the starting point, the two generations rebuilding the State of Lithuania in 1918 and the Independence of Lithuania, notably, the signatories of the Acts of February 16, 1918 and March 11, 1990 have been selected. An assumption is made that they are the elite of the Lithuanian politics who laid down the foundation of the State and built up on them. As the point of change, we fast-forward to the generations of politicians of two decades later, specifically, the year 1938 (members of the Fourth Seimas of Lithuania, 1936–1940) and 2010 (members of The Tenth Seimas, 2008–2012) were considered. We wonder what kind of people come to power after the creators of the State, when it is necessary to create not the State as such, but rather the welfare of its people. The exhibition does not intend to provide answers; rather, it poses questions and encourages to realize the importance of one’s choice. It undertakes to teach the art of data comparison and interpretation. The curators of the exhibition see their mission in inviting the people fulfilling their citizenly duty to make conscious and informed choices.
