The fourth run “For the Honor of Lithuania!” took place on May 1st, 2014, alongside the opening of the open-air photographic exhibition “Traces of World War I in Kaunas”. Participant of the peace run honored the victims of war as well as those Lithuanians who under the hardships of the moving East Front were able to stand together and, benefiting from the collapse of the Russian Empire and the loss of Germany in war, restored the State of Lithuania on February 16, 1918.

The exhibition, which focuses on the families of intellectuals as forerunners in all spheres of Lithuania’s life in 1920s and 1930s, was opened on the eve of the State’s Day. This venturesome attempt to see beyond the official biographies, public faces and facades attracted many descendants of prominent families from the period of the First Republic of Lithuania. The symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by MEP Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė and Dalia Palukaitienė, a descendent of a famous Lithuanian painter and composer Konstantinas Mikalojus Čiurlionis.

The third run “For the Honor of Lithuania! 2013” took place on May 1st, 2013, alongside the opening of the open-air photographic exhibition “In Lithuania’s name! The trajectory of Darius and Girėnas’s life” dedicated to the legendary pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas, who were the first Lithuanians to fly over the Atlantic Ocean 80 years ago.

The exhibition, dedicated to the conscious women of the First Republic of Lithuania (1918 – 1940), was opened on the eve of the State’s Day.  It offers a survey on women’s activities in political, social and cultural spheres. Two outstanding contemporary Lithuanian women politicians opened the exhibition: Speaker of Seimas Irena Degutienė and MEP Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė. Other significant figures were present as well: Minister of National Defense Rasa Juknevičienė, Mayor of Kaunas Andrius Kupčinskas, other members of Seimas, active women from various women’s organizations.

The sports trophies exhibition was opened on the eve of the 37th European Basketball Championship in Lithuania. It presents a unique collection of prizes won by Lithuanian sportsmen in international competitions between 1918 and 1940. The exhibition was opened by its patron President Valdas Adamkus and Speaker of the Seimas Irena Degutienė.
